Who are the Valkers?
The Valkers are a warrior-race of bi-pedal reptilians in the universe of D’Olex. Before and during the events of Book 1: Quorum Treaty, the Valkers are conquering planets from galaxy to galaxy. Conflict between the Valkers and other races has been raging for millennia.
Valkers stand as a man would, albeit they are taller and a tail grows were buttocks would be. Their skin is composed of scales. This greyish-green pigment covers their whole body and in some places Valkers have tougher scales, like the thin band that runs down their back to their tail. They have two powerful legs that appear quite muscly. Their legs allow them to run fast and leap further than a human is able to. Attached to each high, supportive ankle are three clawed toes.
The Valker Standard is the insignia of the Valkers. It depicts the half-torso of a Valker Warrior, showing respect. Valkers offer respect by lunging to one knee (a bit like an exercise lunge) and rearing their tail overhead, so that it arches into their clawed hands. When Valkers hold their tail, they are vulnerable. This is because they use their tail in both defence and attack.
Valkers at War
Many point of view (POV) characters make reference to Valker prowess in battle, yet it is not until half-way through Book 1 that readers witness it firsthand. Most Valkers are skilled fighters. Raised from birth in the art of combat, Valkers are encouraged to give their lives for the greater good, and promised a lasting legacy if they excel in the theatre of war. Valkers use their tail as a weapon. Tails can whip an enemy, or throw and deflect objects. Leaping towards a foe is common. Valkers use their powerful legs and tail to jump forward onto their enemies.
