Science fiction in Lore of Energy and Light
More and more, science and technology pushes us forward, constantly blurring the line between science fiction and reality. When it comes to Lore of Energy and Light®, you might be surprised by what is pure science fiction and what is grounded in possibility. Here we go.
Nanobots
Modern day fact or science fiction? FACT
Nanobots are no longer the realm of science fiction. Nanobots first made their debut in mainstream media for their medical treatment benefits. However, if the alternative media is to be believed, Nanobots were first conceived and built by the military–industrial complex over twenty years ago. In the latter scenario, the bots were potentially used in espionage, germ-warfare and solider enhancements. In the science fiction novel Lore of Energy and Light, we see similar applications. Just as I am writing this article I saw a news report where Nanobots were used commercially by Google to connect the human brain to the internet – wow. Science Fiction writers can barely write anything about these little robots now that would not be out of the realm of possibility. Some news sources report the use of implants that can alter DNA or override brainwaves. This is truly extraordinary considering the human genome sequence was only released in 2003. Did it take humanity only 13 years to be able to manipulate our own genetic makeup? I will leave that for you to ponder.
Space Travel
Modern day fact or science fiction? FACT
Okay. This question and answer all depends on the extent to which you think space travel is possible in the present day. Yes, humanity reached the Moon and Mars, and now even Jupiter. But in the grand scale of our solar system that achievement is equivalent to a grain of sand on a beach. Lore of Energy and Light explores the possibilities of travel between multiple worlds and even across galaxies. In the book, Quorum Treaty, this happens in two ways. The first way is using engines that are not based on burning fuel. The second is wormholes. This year NASA confirmed they are working on an EM Drive (electromagnetic propulsion – also see Torsion Drive). Many scientists have also been experimenting with the idea of wormhole travel for years. Conclusive laboratory tests show it is possible to “teleport” basic particles from one location to another using artificial wormholes. Many characters in the book use energy and light to travel through space in ways firmly grounded in science fact – like wormhole jumps.
Energy and Light Weapons
Modern day fact or science fiction? FACT
Star Trek, Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy – so many great movies have shown us their version of energy and light weapons. Humanity has been captivated by lasers for a long time. Recent US military tests show that weaponised use of lasers is a reality, but it is the not type we are used to seeing in movies. In film, lasers are usually depicted as flying through the air in short bursts. Yet in reality a laser is a continuous beam. The beam connects two points simultaneously because it travels at the speed of light. That means it would be almost impossible to dodge a laser, unlike what we see in movies.
Inter-planetary Races
Modern day Fact or fiction? UNKNOWN
In the 1980’s less than 15% of Americans surveyed believed in extraterrestrial life. Between then and now humanity has been embroiled in heated debate and the burning question – are we alone? The internet has always been full wild ET and UFO stories. As a writer, it is fertile ground for great science fiction. Fast forward to today, over half of Americans now believe in life on other planets. Somewhere along the way humanity has opened up to possibility. The “possibility” could be as simple as microscopic life and does not necessarily mean aliens. More and more Earth-like planets are being discovered every year which makes the odds of intelligent life more likely. Lore of Energy and Light is built upon that idea; the idea that the possibility of life beyond Earth is not only real, but widespread. The book blurs the line between lore and science fiction.
