Who are the Messulun Priests?
The priesthood originating from the star system Thruress are known as the Messulun Priests. They are followers of a sun called Messulun, which is the star in Thruress. It is a dull star that radiates warm-copper in appearance.
During events in Book 1, the Messulun Priests are encountered by POV characters on various planets across the universe of D’Olex. It appears this sectarian group is at odds with both the Alliance of Planets and the Valkers, as they have attacked both sides.
Their symbol is a depiction of the Messulun Sun, and their followers wear either a bronze or copper medallion, or have a circle embroidered into their layered robes.
“Heavy insulated layers covered the Priest, embellished with the elaborate sign of the Messulun – a thick circle, patterned inside with jagged lines to form a maze spinning from the centre. It burned bronze; a deeper tone than the dull sun it depicted. To finish, he wore a thin copper belt, and displayed bare feet that poked out from the draped robes.”
Origins of the Messulun Priests
WARNING: Spoilers ahead
It is clear the Messulun Priests came from Thruress, though their beginnings are less clear. In the book Quorum Treaty® readers learn of the First Priest named Saku Blergg. So far in the story only his name is known. Many characters claim they have heard of Saku, but no one has actually met the First Priest. One thing is for sure, their popularity is on the rise. From major cities to small shanties, the Priests are seen preaching to the citizens.
The Messulun Priests had small beginnings. They have been underestimated by the Alliance of Planets and the Valkers on several occasions. By the end of Book 1 they begin to transform from an unarmed priesthood into a militarised fighting force.
