Cortella Maxi is a beautiful and prosperous planet in the galaxy of Vylonia in the universe of D’Olex. The capital of Cortella Maxi is Cortella City, which has a skyline of buildings made of glass and mercury. Cortella Maxi has a moderate climate that serves up beautiful weather more often than not. The planet is located in the same region of space as the Quorum Treaty, and is relatively close in terms of space travel (see: Torsion Drive). It orbits the super sun Ophii, the centre of the star system of Pretenia. This planet is mentioned by multiple Representatives on Quorum Treaty. Cortella City was founded by an old race called the Dybiss.
“Cortella City thrummed with energy. A glistening skyline cried out – I am beautiful. Its reflection was made of its own image; glass buildings carried the clouds, the sun, and a warped picture of the festival ablaze. The cityscape was far higher than wide, dotted by steep spires bursting through two great glass domes that housed the inner city.”
In Book 1, Quorum Treaty®, POV character Harna Harlequain and her father are living in Cortella City. Their family has great wealth and influence across the city, and Harna’s father has a Seat on the City Administration. Cortella City is known for its diverse mix of races, vibrant marketplaces, affluence, and racing festivals. The city is the main source of D’Olex Deciphers in the universe.
Cortella Maxi is considered the jewel in the crown of the Alliance of Planets for its trade and central location. The planet generates significant taxes for the Interstellar Quorum – a point of grievance for Harna Harlequain:
Harna gave him a probing stare, one that could have surgically removed Moorson’s testicles and packaged them in an imaginary box of lust.
“What I am proposing seems fair. Afterall, where do our Quorum taxes go? They seem to float away like asteroids through space,” she said, fluttering her hands for effect. “I saw how my father was treated by the Alliance of Planets. They held him down, restricted his trade and took half his wealth in taxes.”
From the author:
“If I had to live on a planet in the galaxy of Vylonia, it would be Cortella Maxi. Good shopping, a melting-pot of cultures, a wide variety of food, and weather suited to my sun-loving skin. I think I would be well at home in Cortella City. I might even attend a Craggoo race or two.” – Glen Rothlisberger.
